They would have a better chance of survival in the wild if the mother cat made her own nest in the wild. In the wild the mother cat gradually ween the kittens off breast feeding and starts to teach the kittens hunting skills by bringing various prey back to the litter nest, starting will smaller to larger. Like a dead little mouse at first. Then the mother cat will start to bring back not quite dead, but injured prey so that kittens can practice killing. They also learn about what is food and which food can bite back and/or is more dangerous food, like large rats.

I am very sorry for the plight of your cats. By choosing not to neuter, you are breeding more who will not have learned sufficient survival skills, prior to your departure, but will also be competing against each other for food in the wild. And, in a country where the natives do not have a concept of kindness to animals. Not criticizing your decisions it's just all so unfortunate and I am sorry for their plight. I love both cats and dogs (though I do NOT like Mexican dog breeds one bit, especially not those bug-eyed, vibrating, foul tempered, stupid, incessantly yapping, vile little Chihuahuas) .

I personally don't like cats. I am more a dog person, but more power to you.

I can't get myself to do that.
I think the best solution in my case is to leave them in the "campo" where they are quite happy, but where survival for them is a bit more challenging and thereby "keeps their population under control".

I love cats. I feed the neighborhood cats and the wild cats but I can have only 1 cat in my house and that is my Calico. She claws anybody coming into the house or gets very angry they are here. She was very upset when I tried to add 2 kittens so I had to get rid of them the best way I could which was to take them to a big old building here where people have been dumping cats for decades. There is a man who feeds them but they are mostly wild. This is my 2nd calico and the other was very sweet but this one is only sweet when she wants to be. I have had many cats in the past that were barn cats and other cats that went out to the woods to have their kittens. But I am a dog man.

Mine is a picky eater. She gets Iams cat food and Temptations treats while the other cats get the can foods and any cheap brand I can afford.
