This is a video I found somewhere about Akita's. I used to raise and breed AKC/ Pedigree Akita years back when I had a life and a future, before I was locked up for having a firearm. Akita's are a breed apart from others. Much larger than German Shepherds they are Boss Dogs. You can raise one and he will give his life to protect your children from any harm be it a bear or human. They were originally bred to hunt Polar Bears and they are fearless. Excellent eyes, nose and ear dogs an Akita can track deer and keep up with the chase to bring them down. They will kill virtually any wolf and coyote in the woods but with regular dogs they fight only to establish their own dominance. This means they will not take 2nd place beside any other dog. Male Akita's will bond with you if you are a woman or, female. He is in competition with any male. He may acknowledge you as Alpha but only if you win his respect. A man or boy bonds with a female Akita. Akita's mate for life with their companions between male and female Akita's. You will need a fenced in area quite large and a sign on your property telling others that your dogs bite in order to protect you legally because they are already an excellent Guard Dog and will bite strangers.

He will definitely be a Champion of a dog!. I have raised German Shepherd, Neapolitan Mastiff, Chow, Pit Bull, Doberman Pinscher, and lots more. The bigger the better but I have also raised tiny little hairless Chihuahua and Beagles and Dachshund. I can meet up with dogs anywhere I go and love them.

I have a Brittish Bulldog x Staffordshire terrior (terrorist ; )). I had a Dingo x Alsatian as a youngster and a Boxer x Bull terrior after him. I also have 5 cats and they all love my dog and vice versa, he protects them.

@DARRYL DUNCAN: weve had a chow , a beautiful dog , he was not to be messed with . :-) I'm quite worn out though because my french bulldog and akita pup like to play fight but hes so big and he pins my buldog, it's quite hard work the constant supervision . When do you think the akita will calm down and hes mouthing a lot too , I'd say hes the size of a labrador already at 5 months !

@Nemesis: In this thumbnail my Akita, Samson, was just 8 moths old and huge. When I brought him and Delilah into the house he would look at my Calico cat and throw out his legs wanting to play but she would turn her nose and go to cleaning herself. They feel what you feel so that usually they will want to behave in the way they think you want them to behave. You have 2 children when you have 2 dogs so you cannot show 1 favoritism over the other or they will feel it. Feed them separate bowls at feeding time and separate them. An Akita comes into his full power at about 5-6 months of age. If you have a man in your house your Akita will challenge him for Alpha position; this is not to say he will bite him but it is saying that he will assume he is boss of the house. At that time when you know you are being challenged and it is a standoff, climb on top of him aggressively and lay him down wrapping your hands around his muzzle and using your legs to pin his legs. Hold him but do not hurt him. Let him struggle to free himself for 20 minutes. Keep your hold and simply talk to him in his ear telling him that you love him. Let him feel the love in your voice and speak the way you usually do when praising him for being a good boy. This is how you become Alpha. An Akita male will then know that you are boss of the house and will do more to protect you from harm because he now respects you as well as loves you. Akita's seek to own the food bowls of other dogs. You should be able to put your face into his food bowl at the time of feeding. Always practice this now while he is young so that you build a trust and a basis of a loving family. What he does now as a pup is the way he will do as an adult. If you already had the French Bulldog before you got the Akita then it is already settled because your Akita will always defer to the Bulldog. You can raise an Akita beneath any dog so that he gives respect to that dog, or it could be a cat or even a chicken, as long as it was already there before he came along. If you keep them inside the house be prepared to put him outside as soon as he has eaten. Akita's are naturally housetrained the same as cats are with litter boxes. Akita's do not like to do their business on the property they live on. He will want to leave your property line and poop somewhere else. They are a naturally clean dog and can swim as smoothly as a snake glides through water.

@Nemesis: I had outside yard dogs which were basically Watchdogs. A watchdog is a bark and run dog. They alert you to any danger but aren't much help in a fight for your life. Akita's are Guard and Protection Dogs. If you want a dog that is friendly then you allow other people to pet your dog but if you want a dog that is loyal only to you and your family then you allow no one to touch your dog. An Akita normally never barks and growls as other dogs will do; they attack. I raised my Akita's to kill anything I pointed a finger at or signaled by a small sound to kill. It was with great pride that I could point at a large black wolf and make a small sound and watch my dog kill that wolf. I could be in the woods with a pack of coyotes and my Akita's would track them down, run them down and kill them. For a dog like an Akita to kill you have to give them a taste of blood while they are pups. Deer blood is good. I want my dogs to attack anyone who come into my home. I do not live where I can have my own dogs now. These dogs I care for now belong to a family of drug addicts who do not care anything about their dogs except as something they own. Some people should never have dogs. When I came upon these dogs. the 2 Chows and Doberman no one had changed their water buckets in years, no one fed them regularly, no one loved these dogs. They were mean and you could see through their thinned hair large green and black skin infections. I brought them to health and to love. I give them 100% love and care everyday. I do not like people who use drugs but I do what I have to for dogs.
